Boogie Woogie is a swing dance, based on lead and follow. It is a social dance, as well as a competition dance. In competition, it is danced both fast and slow.

Fast boogie woogie is charaterized by impressive footwork, high energy, dance figures and music interpretation. Because the dance is not choreographed, a main task for the dancers is to interpretate the music they are given through their basic dancing, improvisation and variations(dance figures).
